Who We Are

PES (Process Engineering Solutions) is a Greek process engineering company with over 30 years of hands-on industrial experience, helping food, dairy, environmental, and industrial manufacturers increase productivity and reduce production costs. We work across the full project lifecycle — from initial process analysis and plant design through to equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and long-term operational support. Our promise is simple: you get direct access to a senior engineer who knows your industry, speaks your language, and stays with you from first conversation to final sign-off.

Process Engineering & Optimisation

Process Engineering & Optimisation

Good processes don't happen by accident — they are designed, measured, and continuously improved. PES brings a rigorous, data-driven approach to process analysis, applying Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and capability analysis to help you understand where variation comes from and what it costs you. We distinguish between special cause variation — the kind that signals something has gone wrong — and common cause variation, which is the background noise of your process, and we address both with targeted, regulatory-compliant recommendations. All proposed improvements are quantified before implementation: we help you estimate the return on investment and validate the results against the baseline, so you know exactly what you are getting.

What we deliver
  • Process capability analysis using Cp and Cpk indices, with clear interpretation and improvement roadmap.
  • Design of Experiments (DoE) using fractional factorial methods and Taguchi orthogonal arrays to develop robust, noise-resistant processes.
  • Reliability analysis with MTTF, MTBF, and MTTR metrics to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment design life.

Dairy Plant Design

PES built its reputation in the dairy sector. We started with separation process applications in dairy — specifically cheese recovery from whey and whey cheese de-watering — and have since accumulated deep, practical knowledge of how dairy plants work under real production conditions. We understand the specific challenges of dairy processing: tight hygiene requirements, continuous high-throughput operation, and the need for equipment that can be cleaned quickly and reliably between product runs. Our dairy engineering work covers process line layout, equipment specification, and integration of separation, mixing, and moisture control systems into a coherent, operable plant.

What we deliver
  • Process line design for whey separation, cheese recovery, and powder handling.
  • Equipment selection and specification for vibrating separators, mixers, and conveyors suited to dairy hygiene standards.
  • On-line moisture measurement integration for powder products, with sensor accuracy to 0.05%.

CIP & Hygiene System Design

CIP & Hygiene System Design

Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) is not an afterthought — it is a core part of plant design. A well-designed CIP system eliminates the need to disassemble equipment for cleaning, reducing downtime, minimizing human error, and creating fully auditable cleaning records that satisfy HACCP and food safety regulations. Every effective CIP cycle is governed by four interdependent variables — Temperature, Action, Chemical, and Time (TACT) — and getting the balance right requires engineering judgment, not guesswork. PES approaches hygiene system design from first principles: specifying the right cleaning agents for the fouling type, ensuring turbulent flow velocities are achieved throughout the circuit, and designing out dead legs and crevices that harbour contamination.

What we deliver
  • CIP circuit design with defined flow velocities, chemical dosing parameters, and temperature profiles.
  • Validation protocol development: worst-case soil loading conditions, conductivity verification, and microbial acceptance criteria.
  • Hygiene-compliant equipment layout recommendations, including smooth interior finishes, full-drainage piping, and cleanable weld specifications.

Project Management

Engineering projects fail not because of bad technology, but because of poor coordination, scope creep, and the gap between what was specified and what gets installed. PES provides hands-on project management for process engineering projects — from initial feasibility through procurement, installation, and handover — keeping the technical thread intact at every stage. Because PES is independent of any single equipment manufacturer, our project management is genuinely focused on your outcome, not on moving a particular product. We co-operate with first-line suppliers which means we can specify the right solution for each application rather than the most convenient one.

What we deliver
  • Feasibility studies and process design briefs ahead of capital expenditure decisions.
  • Supplier coordination and technical review of equipment offers against process requirements.
  • Commissioning oversight and performance verification against agreed process targets.

Equipment Installation & Commissioning

Equipment Installation & Commissioning

Specifying the right equipment is only half the job — getting it to perform as designed in your plant is the other half. PES supports installation and commissioning of process equipment across separation, size reduction, conveying, and moisture measurement applications, drawing on direct experience with equipment in live industrial environments. We have worked with vibrating separators handling everything from cheese recovery at 22,000 litres per hour to flour cleaning at 30 tonnes per hour, and with on-line moisture sensors deployed in food, chemical, and construction materials applications. This breadth of hands-on reference means we can anticipate installation challenges before they become commissioning problems.

What we deliver
  • On-site installation supervision and technical support for separation, grinding, and conveying equipment.
  • Commissioning of on-line moisture measurement systems with calibration using 2–10 product samples and validation of measurement accuracy.
  • Process performance testing post-installation, with documented comparison against design specifications.

Troubleshooting & Ongoing Support

When something is not working as it should, you need someone who can diagnose the root cause quickly and give you a clear path forward — not a call-centre script. PES offers direct, engineer-led troubleshooting support for process lines in food, dairy, environmental, and industrial applications. Our approach to troubleshooting is systematic: we use reliability analysis methods — including Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies where appropriate — to identify whether a malfunction originates from unsuitable machinery, a process parameter drift, an operational error, or an upstream quality issue. We also support inter-laboratory assessment for companies running quality control across multiple sites, helping ensure that measurement results are repeatable and reproducible, and that any deviations are traced to their source.

What we deliver
  • Root cause analysis for process failures, with written findings and corrective action recommendations.
  • Inter-laboratory R&R studies: repeatability and reproducibility assessment, ring-test coordination, and performance reporting against assigned values.
  • Supplier sampling plan review and redesign — including transition from AQL-based to prevention-based inspection strategies for raw material control.

Why PES

PES is an independent engineering company. We are not tied to any single equipment brand or technology platform, which means our recommendations are driven by what your process actually needs — not by what we happen to sell. Our experience spans wet and dry processes, food and non-food industries, and projects ranging from single-equipment installations to multi-stage process line designs, giving us a breadth of reference that most specialist suppliers cannot match. What sets us apart most clearly, however, is continuity: when you work with PES, you work directly with the engineers who have done this before. There is no account manager between you and the technical expertise, no handover to a junior team once the contract is signed. That direct relationship is how we have built long-term partnerships with our customers — and it is the standard we hold ourselves to on every project.

Let's Talk About Your Process
